Good kit
Happily surprised at the functionality of this. Havenât had to wire up RJ45s in a long time but this kit including tester took the guesswork out of it. Iâd definitely buy again.

All you need for reliable RJ45 terminations.
In this era of wifi devices, the benefits of wired ethernet connections are often ignored or not realised. More bandwidth, more reliability, less latency. Sure, the wiring is a bit of a hassle, but the benefits are worth it and a device such as this makes it about as simple as it could be.It’s easy to use – chop the end flush using the inbuilt cutter, trim the outer cover using the blade or separate tool, insert the wires into the plug according to the diagram (this is the only fiddly bit), then crimp. And voila – a CAT 5/6/7/8/9 cable to you exact length requirements, giving reliable, fast connections to your router. It’ll give you fast reliable connections – wifi is best reserved for mobile devices, for anything fixed, wired connections are better. Highly recommended.

A good kit at a good price
This kit offers good value and is reasonable as a starter kit. I’ve never tried crimping my own cables before and it took me a few attempts to get the hang of it. I was impressed with the crimp tool – it is reassuringly heavy and it worked well. I like that the wire guide is handily printed on the tool. You get a couple of spare blades for this. The wire cutters are really cheap and cheerful and you need to be very careful to avoid cutting more than the outer sheath of the cable. I found that I accidentally cut a wire or two unless I was very careful with this tool. There are a number of RJ45 connectors (with boots) supplied. However, I don’t think they’re up to CAT7 standard as my understanding is that this requires a metal jacket to provide ground shielding – but I may be wrong about that.Overall this is a basic but functional kit to get you started.

Fantastic crimp tool kit.
I really like this crimp tool kit. It certainly covers everything I need! The kit comes in a case and includes the crimp tool, cable tester, connectors, cable ties and a wire stripper. For me the kit worked brilliantly. I had to make some short network cables and had to replace broken connectors on some others, and the kit did a great job. The pass through connectors make assembling the cables before crimping much easier than traditional connectors, and I can make cables in much less time with the pass through plugs. The strain relief boots should hopefully make the cables last longer. The crimp tool itself works brilliantly, crimping and trimming the pass through connectors, and does a great job of cutting and stripping the cables as you prepare the network cables. The lock keeps the sharp bits out of the way between uses, and the tool is nice and compact, and is a doddle to use. One part I particularly like is the little diagram of A and B wiring configurations on the tool. This is a huge help for me because I never make enough cables for the wiring sequence to stick in my head, so having a reference guide to hand is a huge benefit. The cable tester is a great item to have in the kit. It makes checking that the connector has been wired up properly before the cable is used a quick and easy process, and it certainly saved my neck a few times. The connectors work well, but they dont have the additional shielding that I would expect from cat 7 connectors. However, they have worked brilliantly on my home network, which uses cat 5e and cat 6 wiring.Overall, this is a great kit to sort out your networking cables, and is well worth having as part of your toolkit.

Wins my favour!
Upon opening the box I find the tool, spare blades… some pass through connectors (with boots!) and the ubiquitous cable stripper that seems to come with everything now.I wondered about that stripper as the tool itself has a stripping blade, however the standalone stripper does come in useful as the “strip” part of the main tool is not good for thin (unshielded) cables. The standalone tool is also a lot easier to use for stripping as it is small, lightweight and plastic compared to trying to rotate the larger metal crimp tool around a cable. After working out the locking mechanism and prepping my first cable (ready with boot) I had a moment of trepidation about inserting the pairs into the plug itself, I love pass through connectors when they work… however I have also come across some evil ones which just don’t (staggered pins).Fortunately the supplied plugs are the nice (inline) type, just arrange the pairs as normal and don’t worry too much about the length (they are going to get trimmed shortly).Actually crimping is effortless when compared to some of my other tools, this tool seems to develop a lot of mechanical advantage for such a short handle. This not only allows the tool to take up less space in my kit but puts less stress on the fingers, I could crimp for hours with these. On that subject, just doing two or three at my desk I think I averaged out at about 2mins per end which I have to put down to the fact that the inbuilt trimming blade (for the pass through connectors) doesn’t always get them all first time. (This will never be a problem with solid connectors.)And that comment re: solid connectors is why it gets five stars, compared to other crimp tools doing solid ordinary RJ45s, this takes up less space and requires less squeezing. So it wins even without taking into account the ability to trim pass throughs without a second operation.

I picked this up to replace my backup crimper, and after testing it on six terminations at a job site, Iâm impressed. Itâs compact, light, and does exactly what it promises. It now takes the spot of my former number two crimper. I like the small footprint. It fits in the hand comfortably and stores easily.Out of the box, you get everything you need for basic network work. It includes 20 gold-plated CAT6 pass-through connectors, 20 blue protection boots, a mini stripper, a spare blade, and a storage box. Including extra blades is a nice touch. Most kits skip that.During use, it performed well. Crimping and cutting were mostly clean, although the two outermost wires sometimes needed a quick pull to fully separate. Interestingly, another reviewer had the same issue. Not a deal breaker. The guide printed on the tool makes it easy to line up the T-568A and T-568B patterns without second-guessing. The tool locks shut for easy transport, and the built-in cutter cavity does tend to collect trimmed ends, so you’ll want to clear that after use. This is not my heavy-duty daily driver, but for home users or as a reliable field backup, it gets the job done. If anything changes, like blade wear or latch failure, Iâll post a real-world update. For now, this stays in the bag.

Crimpatrice ottima, solida, in metallo.
