As you move through a graveyard with wormed eyeballs or through a forest with trees that are part human form, eyes and mouth, hails of bullets and triple laser fire from Cotton’s latest weapon resource that can be swapped and changed throughout as an endless onslaught of enemies fill the screen with their own arsenal of power. Fun times – a game you will return to often
I’m being totally honest in the review title. I’ve owned the Steam version of Cotton Reboot for a couple of years now and it’s a game I fire up for a quick run every couple of weeks – that already makes it one of my most played games! When I saw Inin had this on sale on the Switch (รยฃ14.99!) I jumped at the chance to own it physically.When I say “a quick run” I do mean it. The game is probably less than 30 minutes long but it’s endlessly playable. While simple on the surface – the amount of mechanics underneath especially for chasing high scores is incredible. While I’m just in it for the ride really – I still run my own personal metrics of “how far can I get before I lose my first life”.Throw in the 2 minute challenge mode, multiple characters and the original X68000 version and you’ve got an incredible package. I will say though that this is still very much in the ‘classic shmup’ vein; if you’re new to the series personally I think Cotton Fantasy with it’s more modern approach might be a better way to get your feet wet.No issues with the Switch port at all and it runs just as well as the PC version. Load times between levels are pretty swift.Well worth it and I’m really happy to actually own a physical copy (well done to Inin for continuing with these lower priced releases!).

Excellent remake of the classic 90s 2D side scrolling shoot em up game.beautiful 2D graphics,fantastic music and great gameplay.Specially for arcade/retro gaming fans, this is a must buy.
