The switch is to make the power down process very quick. You don’t want to hunt around for a switch if you need to turn the power off on your router table or small machine right away especially while your hands are a little bit busy. Quick on/off switch
Equipped with a large red, highly visible OFF paddle, simply push your knee, thigh or hip against the paddle to turn off the power supply. A slight dent is enough without much effort. And on the top of the paddle, a large green, embedded ON button is always visible.

Great addition for DIY router table
I bought this to use with a DIY router table I have build into a workbench and it has been an excellent addition to the setup from both a safety and convenience perspective. I was able to mount this on the leg of my bench so that I can knock the large off paddle with my knee to quickly turn off the router once I’ve finished my cut, which is infinitely easier and safer than fumbling around under the bench for the router’s off switch when I’m finished with it, I can just leave the router with the switch in the on position and use the on button on this instead to activate it. I have also tested and confirm that this switch has a safety cutout, so that if you suffer a power cut while the plugged in device is in operation, it will not come back on when the power is restored until you hit the on button again.Having the plug sockets built into it makes it way easier to use and more flexible than the numerous other similar items available that require you to wire your device directly in, I’m no kind of expert with electrics so was so much easier to add this to my setup and didn’t require removing the plug from my router, plus if I ever change my setup I won’t have to do any re-wiring, just unplug and move it. It also means I can plug this in through my shop vac with power take off for easy integration with dust extractionHighly recommended for any static power tool that doesn’t already have a safety switch built in

Got one on the router, and will be getting more to fit to other dangerous bits. I know the tools are dangerous so work accordingly, but any extra protection is nor going to be turned away.

Does the job well
Wanted this as a safety feature on the workstation for my mitre-saw, which at present plugs straight into the mains, so that an emergency stop and cut-out can be achieved by a knee if necessary. Next time, though, will get the cheaper version that you wire it up myself, because it doesn’t seem that complicated.

good safety stop switch
This was just what I needed for my home made router table. It feels far safer with the large, easy to hit stop lever. My only complaint is the very short cable to the router itself. It certainly in NOT 18″ in length. More like 6″. Nevertheless, easily worked around. Overall, I am very pleased with it.

Not as described
This does the job but the product clearly states the male cable is 66â. It isnât. Itâs half this length. The downside of this is that instead of plugging directly into a power socket, you have to plug in to an extension lead, unless you have a mains socket around two foot away. I had wanted to avoid an extension plugged in to another extension but this is, in effect what the product forces the user to do. In my case, router tableâs trim router cable into productâs female extension socket and productâs male lead into an extension reel and then into wall socket. In fairness, another purchaser has noted this ( with pictures) in a review that I missed. The productâs paper manual also incorrectly states 66â. As this is a safety product I donât think forcing users to âdaisy chainâ equipment is safe practice. Please change the specs of both the product and manual, or even better, provide customers with the stated 66â cable so that this device can be plugged into a wall outlet.
