A good balance of sound and functionality
First thing to note is that the Spot is a step down from the Dot (5th Gen, anyway) in terms of sound. Which shouldn’t be a surprise, given the integration of a crystal clear, touch screen. As far as I can see the Spot is intended more as a bedside clock/radio, whereas the Dot is solely a smart speaker focused on delivering sound (which it does exceptionally well for its size). Like all Echo devices, it’s a breeze to set up and (providing you select the option at purchase) comes connected to your account and even your Wi-Fi (well, automatic connection during the setup process, anyway). The screen is small but beautiful and, crucially, functions very well as a bed side clock – with little to no backlight visible and the clock digits clearly visible on a dark background. It has a night mode which can be set (along with a limited number of clock faces/colours) via the Alexa app. This dims the display and effectively eliminates any light pollution in a darkened room. Touch works well also. The sound is more than adequate for its intended use, with equalisation available via the Alexa app. The device is compact and pleasing to the eye. This really is an excellent evolution of the Dot and stands shoulder to shoulder with the best Echo products.

We love the All-new Echo Spot (2024 release). Itâs exactly what we needed for our bedroom, and Amazon has really outdone themselves with this smart alarm clock. The design is compact and stylish, without taking up too much space. The display is clear, dimmable (which is a great feature) and customisable, and itâs handy to be able to check the time, weather, or my calendar with just a glance.The sound quality on this little device is surprisingly powerful and vibrant! I wasn’t expecting such deep bass and clear audio from a clock, but the Echo Spot is perfect for streaming music, podcasts, or audiobooks. Setting alarms is relatively easy via the App, and I love that I can wake up to my favourite playlist or radio station.The Alexa integration works smoothlyâit’s like having a mini personal assistant next to my bed. Whether Iâm setting reminders, controlling my smart home devices, or getting the latest news, the Spot responds quickly and accurately. The new privacy features make me feel secure too, with options to control the mic and camera when needed.Overall, this Echo Spot is a great update to our old DAB alarm clock and does so much more than I anticipated. Highly recommend to anyone looking to upgrade their old clock radio.

Almost perfect!
Looks great, easy to set up, clear screen, sound is good (for a single speaker unit) – perfect bedside companion. I have changed to Australian Alexa as I find a far more soothing voice to listen to – just so relaxing and ‘chilled’. Only gripe so far is that there is no way to permanently choose a different length of time for the ‘snooze’ function. You can ask Alexa to change it, but only works each time you ask; a few more user changeable options for the clock face/display (as per most phone clock widgets and phone settings) would be appreciated.

The most convenient alarm clock and countdown timer. This replaced an Echo Dot on my bedside table as it does everything the Dot did but also displays the time and date which does not need to be changed once connected to wi-fi.I ask Alexa to set my alarm, snooze, give me the weather forecast and news headlines and the device does it without issue. If I want an afternoon nap, I just ask Alexa for a 1 hour timer. No more fiddling with buttons to set the time or alarm. No more needing to remember about putting the clock forward or back in March and October either.Screen quality is sharp and dims well at night. I find the sound quality good although I donât use it for music. Not sure Iâd pay £80 but I got it for £55 on promo which seemed good value for money.

Good clock design and nice to have a screen on an Alexa.
Nice looking bedside clock. Good sound quality. You can adjust the levels bass, treble etc. Radio works well and Spotify. Enjoy the âtell me the news todayâ function. Handy for an alarm clock that you can set and turn off with your voice. Hope new animations and visual options are on the way for the screen to play with.

I hope that new Alexa will have polish language. Is not, is many others language but not polish. I am very unhappy with that Alexa, she not helping me to play music as the oldest version of Alexa did. Thinking to get back to Amazon.
