A high quality product that is easy to fit
This is a superb quality item that provides the function of two mains outlets with switches. I have never seen a product like this before where the fixing screws are hidden behind a clip-on front plate. The product is part metal as there is a metal plate behind the clip-on front plate and that is unusual as twin mains sockets usually are all made of mostly plastic. The metal plate will no doubt add to the strength and quality of the product.I tested how 3 pieces of cable fitted into the screw terminals, using 2.5mm squared conductors. I found that 3 conductors fitted into the Live screw terminal which is usually the maximum number of conductors you may need to fit into a double switched socket. The instructions were very good and well-written in English, easy to understand. They suggest twisting the conductors together when fitting more than one conductor per screw terminal. I have not tried that but will now as I write. Yes – 3 conductors fitted when twisted tightly so no problem using the suggested method. 3 conductors are the maximum you would usually fit as in the case of a ring main with a spur.I tried the front plate un-clipping and re-clipping and that proved easy using a flat blade screwdriver as instructed. 2 fitting screws are supplied to fit the double sockets to the pattress box. The switches were found to be a little hard to press but perhaps a safety feature to protect children from operating them.

Neat inside and out, one niggle
This is a nicely designed 2 gang mains socket (UK certified to BS1363) with a separate face plate which clips over the main section; that main section screws into the pattress box as normal, so the face plate simply makes things look neater by hiding those screws. The internals are easily accessible for wiring up before installation, and the whole thing looks very neat once installed. It’s a modern design with two earth terminals, which may confuse DIYers replacing older ones with just a single terminal; I’d advise them to Google this, it’s pretty straightforward.It’s worth noting that the face plate isn’t just cosmetic but is integral to the safety of the design; if it isn’t fitted you can stick a screwdriver into the gap between the switch and body and access the live feed. You can see that gap in my picture. It doesn’t worry me overmuch but it does mean you need to make sure you’ve properly engaged all of the clips and that if you damage those or the face plate during installation, you’ll have to bin the whole thing – if children see something obviously loose, they’ll go for it.Properly installed and undamaged I’m perfectly happy to use this socket in my project, but because this could have been designed out I’m knocking a single star off.

Happy with this socket!Looks nice on the wall, switches work well. I especially like the child-proof shutters, which give extra peace of mind. Easy to install and feels solid. Overall, itâs a solid, reliable socket that does exactly what it should.

A functional product that checks all the essential security boxes
The design is aesthetically pleasing, with a sleek, glossy finish that blends well with my any interior decor.However, I did encounter a few drawbacks. The clips on the facia were a bit too fiddly for my liking, particularly if you need to access the socket frequently. It can be a hassle to manage, which is something to consider if you often need to reach behind the socket.Additionally, the glossy finish, while visually appealing, is made from a delicate plastic that can easily scratch. I found that I needed to be quite cautious when wiping it down to avoid marks or scuffs, which can be a bit of a nuisance

Good looking socket.
Easy to fit for a competent person, flip the front cover off to reveal the fixing holes and just snap on when finished.Looks good and the switches have a positive feel when switched.All terminal screw holes are at the top of the socket so could be a little tight if like mine the wires come from below.Comes with two fixing screws as well as an instruction sheet.

These are ok…
These are ok if you want no screws showing on the outside of the socket. Obviously, the entire switch isn’t ‘screwless’, as the socket needs to be screwed to the back box, and two screws are included. But, there are outlines around each socket hole which does make the idea of ‘screwless’ pretty redundant, i.e. you haven’t got a completely flat, one’piece surface.Just out of interest, it is possible to buy sockets with hidden screw holes, where you push a small cap over the screw once it’s in place. And, on that subject, I know from experience that you can buy sockets with hidden screws in packs of 5 for under £13. This socket costs £8.99 for one, at the time of ordering.Opening up the socket, i.e. taking the front plate off (this prises off easily with a flathead screwdriver) the inside looks well enough made to give you confidence.So, no problems with it, just that you can buy in bulk for just a little more.

Good standard socket
Ordered to replace a broken socket seems to be a standard size as it was the same as the one I was replacing. Easy to install as clear diagrams on back of where to put each wire. Value for money seems reasonable and the quality is fine.
