Thread Network
Thread Router weaves mesh network, reinforcing reliability and extending Thread coverage all over home. Thread has network self-healing capabilities. For example, if one device in the Thread network fails, another device will will step up and fill in the roles of the failed device so that the other Thread devices in the Thread network will continue to function normally.
Therefor, as the S4UK smart plug is plugged into a power outlet, the S4UK will act as a Thread Router to extend the signal of the Thread network to other parts of your home. If one device on the Thread network is beyond the range of the Alexa/GoogleHome/Homekit hub, just add one or more S4UK smart plug to expand the Thread network range. The Thread network will become more robust and the coverage will be wider with each additional Thread device.

Solid Connection and easy to add to my Apple HomeKit
I think I have had 3 different smart plug brands over the years – all of which have had horrible connection problems and constantly needed re-booting (Wemo – are you hearing me?!?).When I saw that apple were going to support matter and thread – I thought I’d find some new plugs that support that too.Enter these Onivs plugs – dead easy to add to my apple homekit (unlike some other brands!). Worked right away, and have been rock solid. I even have 2 of them in a waterproof box outside and they are fine too – even when it’s below freezing outside. I’ve no idea what the spec of the plugs says the min temp is, but I’ve had no issue.I must say that I was a bit wary at first because these were really quite affordable. I’ve made the mistake of getting cheap plugs in the past and they were a nightmare!I’m definitely going to be picking more up in the future, and will also look for other thread supported devices too – I’m now a big fan.

Frustratingly bad
Worst smart plugs Iรขยยve ever purchased for HomeKit. Random drop outs and disappear and impossible to do the updates. They failed a few months back I tried updating them via the convoluted way through HomeKit and their one app and no response. Tried resetting them and now they donรขยยt connect to anything at all.Like I say absolute worst plugs for HomeKit Iรขยยve got and also tried.I have their door sensors and motion sensors all around the house and thatรขยยs why Iรขยยm so disappointed with these from the start. Iรขยยve just come back to them and spent two hours trying to get one to work so Iรขยยm kind of still mad.Avoid!

No Android App available
These plugs seem built well and have thus far (a couple of months of use) proven to be stable. They work fine with Home Assistant (make use of emulated hue bridge to expose plugs to Alexa).The one major criticism I have is the total lack of an Android App. There is a firmware update for this plug, but to install it requires using the Onvis Home App.The problem is that Onvis have only made their app available for Apple iOS devices. This comes across as a rather stupid decision and leaves many customers with Android tablets/phones unable to update their plugs firmware.

Iรขยยve been using the Onvis S4 smart plugs for a while now, and theyรขยยve been a great addition to my smart home. Theyรขยยre compact and donรขยยt block other sockets, which is really handy. Setup was super easy, and they work perfectly with my other devices.What I really love is that they support Matter and Thread. The more Thread devices I add, the better everything works together, like theyรขยยre all boosting each otherรขยยs performance. Itรขยยs cool to see how these devices form a stronger mesh network as you add more.The plugs are super responsive whether Iรขยยm using Apple HomeKit, Alexa, or Google Assistant. I had no issues with them until I ran into a problem updating one of the plugs, but Onvis customer support was amazing. They got back to me really quickly with solutions, and the issue was sorted in no time. Really impressed with their aftercare!If youรขยยre looking to expand your smart home setup, these plugs are a solid choice. The more Thread devices you have, the better everything works together. Definitely worth it!

Works well on Apple Homekit
I bought the Onvis smart plug a year ago. It easily added to my Apple HomeKit (Apple TV 4k hub) It operates well. when I had a question the tech support was there on email.Also this plug is much smaller than the EVE equivalent.

Tower of smart plugs
My criteria for IoT stuff is that any product purchased must work within the Apple Homekit ecosystem. Previously I have integrated things into Homekit via Homebridge or latterly buying “native” Homekit products. Issue is now my Netgear mesh wifi is getting crowded with all the Homekit devices running on wifi.As Matter devices running over Thread are starting to become more common, I decided to take the plunge to replace my “Tower of smart plugs” with Onvis devices.Very easy to set up using the Apple Homekit app – just a few minutes. Reliability is rock solid and response times are very fast compared to wifi smart plugs.Did have a few questions for Onvis support who responded very quickly and are extremely helpful.

Doesn’t work with older iPad/iPhone
I was unable to add this to my network as it requires iOS 16.4 or later, and my iPad tops out at 15.8. My fault, I didn’t read the product description carefully enough. I’ll be returning the devices as I’m not planning to spend more money with Apple just yet.

I use Apple Homekit and wanted something that supported Matter/Thread. These were my first such devices. Really wanted to like them and they added quite easily. Thought I was going to be happy with them but then they both started dropping offline intermittently and would also switch themselves off randomly. Unacceptable really. Tried removing and re-adding, powering everything down and back up, but problem remained.Even if they had been reliable they have one other problem – they donรขยยt remember their last powered state. So if you have something powered on before a power cut, it wonรขยยt come back on when power is eventually restored. You have to switch the smart plug back on through your smart home app.Great price, but pity they didnรขยยt work for meรขยยฆ returned for refundรขยยฆ
