An Innovative Combo Audio Experience
This is my third BT speaker/earbuds combo device, and it is very good. The audio from the main speaker is very satisfying, with clear vocals, treble, mids and some bass. The compact size makes it highly portable, but battery life could be much improved. Three hours is just enough for two-way commute. The larger iteration of this combo by OhhGo offers significantly more bass, which is my musical preference. It’s good to have a range of options for this clever type of device, especially at such a reasonable price; a loudspeaker which quickly doubles as a personal earbud listening experience. It’s quirky enough to get and keep my attention. Oh yes, the FM radio is a little fiddly to navigate, but it does work, just about.

When earbuds don’t charge
Good little system. I notice that some people are saying that the earbuds don’t work. I had this problem and then realised that you need to remove the small blue cellophane cover on each earbud charging points. Works perfectly after that.

Earbuds not working
I waited 3 hours for it to charge for only the speaker to end up working and the earbuds not to work at all witch was very disappointing
Customer Review –
Really interesting idea and very sturdy, but let down somewhat by poor playback times
This feels like a really tough and rugged little speaker set, ideal for camping or the beach, etc. Iâve never seen this kind of combo before, and was fascinated to see what itâd be like. It does have one big drawback, which is a pity, as in many ways I really like the idea.It came nicely boxed, with a slide-off slip-cover style box, which makes it very suitable for gift-giving. Out of the box itâs a fair bit larger than I thought, but thatâs not necessarily a problem. Itâs also a noticeable weight, though Iâd happily take it away with me camping, as it really does feel like a robust unit. The two main sides are hard plastic but completely covered in black speaker-mesh fabric, whilst the two shorter side ends are a tough black plastic, one with the opening to the earphones and the other with power in/out, auxiliary and a micro-SD card slot to play MP3âs. The two longer ends (top and bottom) are rubberized silicon, with the bottom being a thick piece to render it non-slip, and the top having large push-press controls on it. The general feel is of quite a nice solid, sturdy piece of kit.The main two sides seem to both emit sound, and the sound is surprisingly good. It certainly has a good top volume, and the bass isnât terrible. It did top out on the highs at full volume, but for the price itâs really not a bad speaker at all. That the speaker is also the charger case for a set of earphones is really novel. Itâs one of those things where Iâm not really sure that itâs actually saving any space, and I canât really see where youâre benefiting from it, but itâs kinda interesting. The touch-sensitive earphones are a little shorter in the stem than any others I own, but reasonable in use, and light to wear. They donât have a huge range at the lower endâbut thatâs true of any earphones in the price-point, so not really a criticism; itâs unfair to compare them to a pair of Denons or Bose. Theyâre reasonably clear for listening to podcasts and the like, as well as music. They connected up to my Android phone and my OHâs iphone with no problems, and can be used to answer calls. One thing I would say is that I cannot open the lid on the earphones section for love nor money, unless I use a knife or teaspoon or the like; itâs just too stiff! Thereâs not enough of an indent there to get a fingernail underneath, to get leverage.Soâ¦the drawback? Well, to me itâs a big one, and itâs playback time. On a full charge you get a little under three hours of speaker time, and thatâs not much. You also then have to charge it for three hours to get a full charge back in. For a similar price, I can get a super-compact speaker with 6 hours of playtime for just a 45-minute full recharge time. I can get a wireless unit of about the same size offering two 3W speakers and 12-hours of playback for just ten quid, and that oneâs also got a waterproof rating. This unit gives no speaker size, and mentions no waterproof rating, even though it has a carry-strap. Mostly though, I just think the speaker playback time is just too low for a unit of this size.Unfortunately the earphones, if anything, fair worse in the playback stakes. For sixteen quid I can get a pair of earphones with 30 or 40 hours playback. These earbuds offer a playback time of just three hours, and a charge time of one and a half. Itâs particularly disappointing considering both the size and weight of the unit, which combine to make you believe that it really should be able to hold a fair-sized battery. Soâ¦a pity. Given their combined playback time, itâs really not worth taking them anywhere for even a day.Thereâs also no explanation of how the power is divided up when youâre charging the two separate 1200mAh and 300mAh batteries. Thereâs no switch to choose to put power to one or the other, the power just goes in, and you presumably have to wait until both batteries are powered at the same time, at a slightly reduced rate.Star-rating, then? Thatâs hard. I really love the idea of this, I just wish that theyâd spent a little more time at the design/prototype stage to think about usage. The premise is intriguing enough that I would have been prepared to spend a little more to get something with more workable playback times. I feel like I should take one star off for the poor speaker playback time, and one star off for the poor earphone playback time, but then again that feels harsh, given the price of the unit. For eighteen pounds youâre getting an interesting little curio here. So Iâm going to take one star off for combined poor battery time, as the general build quality feels good, and the unit look quite nice, if a little bulky.I hope the manufacturer will come back to this idea and spend some time making some tweaks.
