Customers say
Customers find the motion sensor works well, is easy to set up, and appreciate its multi-purpose functionality, with one customer noting it detects motion instantly. They like its design and energy efficiency features, particularly its ability to monitor power usage. The build quality and connectivity receive mixed feedback – while some find it reliable and an excellent addition to the SmartThings system, others describe it as a useless piece of plastic with connectivity issues. Battery life is also mixed, with customers reporting quick battery drain.

Samsung SmartThings Motion Sensor – 2018
I have bought several SmartThings Motion Sensors (2018 version) and they work reliably and perform well.I have these installed within a few rooms around my house and primarily use them to control lights when someone enters/leaves the room. When positioned well they can detect motion instantly from the other side of the room without any problems. I would say that it probably takes about a second for my lights to come on when I walk in the room. Battery life seems to be good also. I have a few other branded Zigbee motion sensors and the Samsung 2018 sensors seem more responsive than all the others I have.I also do like the magnetic base design which can be placed anywhere and the sensor can be easily moved in any direction. As with all the Smarthings sensors, they are also easy to connect to the hub. They also do measure temperature but I don’t have any automations setup based on temperature so I have not really used this feature.Tip: I wanted my lights to switch off as quickly as possible after I have left a room, however I have these motion sensors in rooms such as my office or living room where I may sit down and not move much therefore the sensors would turn lights off after a short time because no movement was being detected; this was somewhat annoying when actually still in the room. To get around this, I have configured my automations to not turn the light off only when the sensor detects no motion in the room I am occupying, but also when motion IS detected from another sensor in an adjacent room! When I leave a room, I have to go past other sensors everytime so I now have automations configured so that when motion is no longer detected in the room I have been in, it also checks if motion being detected in the adjacent hall ways, only then will it turn the office/living room lights off. This seems to work well even if you leave the room and are then only in the adjacent hall way for a brief moment. You’re welcome!Overally, great sensors, highly recommended.

Works well, but very sensitive to location and questionable battery life
I bought this for the garage for a couple of reasons…The first is for security so that Smartthings can alert me if it detects the garage door opening. The second is an added bonus – temperature detection and safety. I weld in my garage and always have a cleardown and fire check before I finish, however it always worries me that there may be something smouldering when I lock the garage door. I’ve set Smartthings to alert me if this device reads more than 30C (unlikely in normal use, in Scotland!).Now, I know this isn’t the same as having a genuine smoke detector in the garage but it might alert me that something is off before *everything* burns to the ground! But that was genuinely an added bonus – I ordered it for the motion detection and, placed behind the garage door, it works great!Well, it works great after I moved the Smartthings Hub to the other side of the living room so that it is now 12ft closer to the garage… Before I did that the sensor kept losing contact with the hub – not entirely surprising with a great big metal door in front of it, to be fair. The other thing that struck me was that the batteries plunged to 78% in the first week. Six weeks in they have stabilised at 76% so I suspect this was because the sensor kept losing connection and would waste energy trying to reconnect. If the rate is now ~2% a month then that’s definitely good going.I’ll update this review in a month if battery usage has stabilished.

good smart plug that measures power use
I’ve got a couple of these that have been in use for around a year without any problems. I bought them for a couple of devices where I wanted to be able to measure power use.Like most smart plugs they’re reasonably bulky, but wont stop you using the other socket in a 2 gang socket. I personally think they look a bit nicer than other smart sockets. They were very quick to pair with my Sonoff zigbee dongle plus and integrate into home assistant with ZHA. They expose current, power, voltage, and summation delivered (kWh used to date). The power use and summation of power delivered work well, and I use power use in a couple of automations. However, for some reason voltage and current remain constantly at 0 – not a problem for my use, but if you’re wanting voltage and current, this may be a problem. I’ve not tried integrating with zigbee2mqtt, so they may work correctly with that.

These are much better than the old version. The QR lookup is the best way to setup.
As you might know (if you used SmartThings for many years), the old plugs would occasionally burn out or break due to poor connection inside the socket. These new versions work really well Iรขยยm my opinion. The button to operate locally is easier to press and located conveniently. The power consumption data is accurate and useful too. Setup is a breeze in the SmartThings app. Save time using the QR method instead of รขยยhuntingรขยย for it in discovery mode. Quiet operation too, cheap smart plugs have a noisy click when they engage but these are much quieter. Will be converting all my plugs to this type over the coming months.

Great product that does exactly what it says, seamlessly.
This smart plug is an excellent addition to my smart home ecosystem and has proved to be easy to set up and use. It seamlessly integrates with other SmartThings devices and allows for convenient control of my appliances. Favourite feature is the ability to monitor energy usage and I have a few of these I have a few of these and will be buying more to track energy of some of the more power hungry appliances in the house. Overall, a great product that I would highly recommend.

It works perfectly, detecting vibrations, temperature, and whether the door/window is open or closed. Requires the Hub to function.
