Super fast operation
Very easy to install and set up in app. Am controlling via Alexa with voice and it switches on/off instantaneously (unlike most mains smart plugs which can lag a bit) and with perfect reliability over several weeks of multiple times a day use.

Handy USB power only switch
THIS IS NOT a “USB data” switch, it doesn’t claim to be, but I think it should be clearer that it’s for USB power only. e.g. it will work to power a wifi camera that has a USB power input, it WILL NOT work as a switch for a USB connected webcam on your PC.UPDATE: I have also since found that it causes a battery issue with my battery-backed video doorbell (also Tuya). I used it to switch USB charging for the doorbell as needed/periodically, but I get constant low battery alerts when this is inline between the doorbell and the charger but not providing power to it. YMMV.Handy little gadget. Didn’t need to read the setup instructions, works like any other Tuya device and was set up quickly. It’s compact but a little boxy (main body is 26mm x 30mm x 33mm), the input/output ports are not in-line and are rotated 90° relative to each other. Discrete pink LED (not Eye of Sauron blue!) when active. No firmware update needed, was up to date. No problems with the weak wifi signal strength in the location I use it.Used with USB-powered decorative lights, reliable and no problems so far. Does not provide voltage/current/power data, but does have an on/off event log. As with any other smart switch it really only works if the controlled device turns on (or remembers) and stays on when power is applied (I have one other set of USB lights that does NOT do this).One minor niggle is the “widget” in the pane display of the SmartLife app doesn’t have a one-click on/off (my smart sockets have this) so you need to open the applet to turn it on/off. Supports a variety of timer/random/sunrise/sunset schedules within its own applet, it’s a little neater to use these than SmartLife scenes. Within scenes you can check its power on/off state, and apply on/off/toggle.

The answer to a long-standing problem
I own (and use) a load of different smart home devices, but it’s not often that I say “This is the one I’ve been waiting for, for years.” And so have you…So many things are powered – or recharged – by usb outlets and yet the smart home industry seemed unaware of this basic fact. Until now. Consider the scenario:- you have one (or more) of those wi-fi smart power strips. They have mains power outlets and some also have two or three USB type “A” sockets as well. Problem is: the USB outlets can only be switched on or off as a group. That’s no use at all for practical purposes. How do you control them individually?This little device is how you control them individually.The adapter uses 2.4ghz wi-fi (only) and the Tuya ‘SmartLife’ app platform. Which is probably the same one you’re already using for the power strip, light bulbs, and many others. The device appears to be well made and is handily small. Even smaller is the printing on the miniscule instruction leaflet, so a magnifying glass will be needed to get started.A 5-seconds press and hold on the control button puts it into pairing mode. Set the app to search for new devices (no scanning of barcodes or other nonsense required) and within a minute the adapter was recognized and installed. Once done, all the usual Smartlife facilities such as timers and automation routines are available, just like any other switching device.I’ll update this review if there are any issues with reliability, but for now I can recommend this for functionality, ease of use, and good value. 5*

Great little smart usb switch
I needed a smart usb for my led lights that had a USB lead. I wanted it to be smart to use with Alexa. This did the job perfectly. Can’t believe it’s taken so long to create one for the smart market. Super simple to set up with smart life app. Just a long press (5 seconds) to set up pairing mode. Well worth getting.
