I wish I found this sooner!
23/08/2020 edit: I’ve since ordered another – I love this!If you thought a smart WiFi plug was great, then try having three (and 2 USBs) that cost scarcely more than just one, and do NOT protrude massively out the wall!I use them to switch lighting and a fan in the bedroom, lights on the stairs (via bedroom), whilst just lights in front room. Unless it isn’t clear, this functions as three separate sockets and a set of 2 USBs (which are linked, yet controllable), and can be controlled with the Woox, Google Home, and Alexa app, along with the respective speaker.Very easy to set up in the Woox app (although you do need to set up via 2.4GHz, which might mean you need to temporarily split the wireless network via the router settings), and Google Home automatically includes the names when copying over.Cannot fault it, and the information require to set up and use Woox is rather minimal. I really cannot fault this extension strip – hats off to whomever decided a smart plug could be improved, as I absolutely love that it exists.

These work with the Tuya / Smartlife app!
I now have a literal shed-load of these. (They’re in my working-from-home shed.) I was about to send these back, because the blurb on the packaging, and in the tiny instruction booklet tells you to download their silly, proprietary app. However, as others in the reviews have said – these absolutely do work with the Smartlife app (‘Tuya’ IoT ecosystem).I had forgotten that I have purchased these before, and got them working with Smartlife. I also forgot that I already had spare plugs, so I’ve now got a supply to last me a few years.Reliability-wise, I haven’t had any for long enough to say whether these ‘Woox’ branded units suffer from the capacitor degradation issue that most of these cheap ‘Tuya’ smart plugs have. After 1-2 years, there’s a 16V electrolytic capacitor that expands and physically blows its top, inside the unit. Easy to repair if you’re an electronics hobbyist/engineer – but really they should use better components.

My Wife and I decided to try smart plugs as we’ve both got injuries currently that make it a bit awkward to get lean over and switch things like lamps on etc in our front room. Initially we installed a few and thought this is great it’s so much more convenient to use either Google home (yes we bought one of them too) or the app to turn the lamps off. Pretty soon we had smart plugs on most things, turning the kettle on from the sofa was nice just one trip to the kitchen when you’re watching a film instead of two and all the other gimmicky little things that go with these plugs, all seemed great for about a week or so…..Then the plugs start going offline and there’s no way to reset them from the app which results in you having to go constantly to that awkward plug socket you were trying to avoid to manually reset themIt got so ridiculous that we removed the one off the tv as it went offline on every useBut this isn’t the reason for this negative review, as frustrating as this was you can live with niggles if the majority work ok.However we have to large Huskies who live in our home and one of thems behaviour has recently become quite strange. He has been whining in the night and both myself and my Wife have come down to him several times now to find him super agitated, panting and pacing and evidently in distress, we’ve let him outside thinking he’s not done his business before bedtime and he’s just sat outside calming down. This morning he’s done the same again and I’ve come down and let him out and he’s sat there and then come in and just wanted a fuss made of him at 5am…. This is very very out of character for him he’s pretty bomb proof and sleeps soundly normally..Then something a friend said to me two days ago made the penny drop, he’s a dog lover too and somehow we were talking about smart plugs and he said they cause dogs distress due to the high frequencies they can emit, I had forgotten this conversation till this morning when I found my dog agitated for no reason.Thinking back this behaviour started the exact time we got all these smart plugs to the day, so the lot of them came out this morning at 5am!If I had any idea these plugs could do that they wouldn’t be anywhere near our house as it’s our dogs home too.If you have pets I would definitely rethink these as they really really upset my dog to the point where I thought he was having a fit, the vets checked him out 100 percent healthy so that only leaves me with the above conclusion. There’s a lot of info on Google about it and clear evidence from othersDon’t buy!

Timer / electric usage
When I bought the box of 4 I was sceptical. But from I opened the box they have been brilliant.Very easy app set up and adding the plugs to the app. Biggest issue I had was remembering my WiFi password.I’m able to set the Christmas Tree lights to come on at sunset and timed to go off And see how much Electricity it’s using. Which is surprisingly little.Also able to see at any one time if the appliance plugged into it is drawing power.I would highly recommend if you like keeping an eye on things.
