Easy join.
Neatly made and easy to use. You will need a 110 punch down tool with blade. Not waterproof.

Not a metal shielded junction box!
Beware. I purchased this produce because it was described as a shielded junction box and in the photograph it looks like a shiny metal case but it is plastic.Annoyingly it’s twice the price of identical items that are white plastic.Full disclosure the full description does say its plastic so my bad but im annoyed that it appears to be designed to look like a proper metal shielded case.

Reasonable product, Incomplete instructions
The box is a better than many, cable extender for solid core structured cabling, it comes with a metalized plastic mounting box to reduce RF interference at the joint. The instructions detail how to prepare the cable, which oddly doesn’t say anything about the presence of the drain wire in some types of cable – the bare wire and the foil that goes over the 4 pairs within. These must be prepared so they go into the strain relief if they are to achieve the goal of reducing RF interference, but this is completely omitted in the instructions. The instructions also don’t say anything about folding around the two strain relief tabs to provide that mechanical connection, instead it relies on wrapping a small cable tie around two holes in the plastic, the metal tabs and the now wrapped cable. Interestingly, once this is done, it does not result in the metalized plastic cover connecting properly to the ground.Double checking with a multi-meter confirms that the central plastic post for the top fixing provides the ground connection from the connector board to the case. The same post also prevents the connector board from being removed. The package and product listing details two fixing screws, however, there is nowhere to install them, nor any detailed provided in the instructions. There is also a double sided adhesive pad so you can stick the box down somewhere. If you order any form of cable coupler like this, don’t forget that you will need a Krone style punch-down tool so that you can terminate the cables in the insulation displacement connectors within the adapter.note that this type of box can only be used with solid core cable, not stranded cable as is used in a patch cable, for those, use the plug-on RJ45 to RJ45 couplers instead. In all cases, make sure you don’t exceed the maximum cable lengths for your structured cable run, typically this is 80 Metres, allowing a 10M patch cable at each end, making the total length of 100M

Small but tall well made RJ45 cable connection boxes.
Review of FGB Cat6 Junction Box, Shielded Punch Down for RJ45 Cables, 2-Pack.At first sight I must admit to not liking these 50x25x25mm RJ45 junction boxes, however once taken apart to reveal the connectors I could see they are a decent quality item.First glance the boxes easily mistaken for metal, they are not, precision quality ABS that fit together perfectly, the only metal parts are the cable retainers at either end connected to the inner circuit board, between the retainers are neatly positioned IDC krone punch down connectors, all arranged so either type 568A or 568B cables can be connected in line.To use the bared Cat6/5E/5 cables are punched down into the IDC connectors using a Krone tool, the phosphor bronze gold plated connectors ensuring a good connection, the bared outer of the RJ45 then secured into the retainer each end once wrapped in the copper foil supplied, these then cable tied to secure in place. The top and bottom of the junction box fitted onto their keys and screwed together to secure. My only dislike is the height of the junction boxes which makes them a little obtrusive however if hidden from sight no problem, the cable connection is very good and no loss is found in signal, personally I would not consider these suitable for outdoor use as advertised.

Fully FTP compliant
These junction boxes are constructed of a lightweight conductive metal shell and a PCB for punching down the 8 cores of an FTP ethernet cable. They also have a FTP bond point on the inlet which is bonded to both ends via the PCB and to the outer casing too, so preventing EMF interference throughout the installation. Thereâs no reason UTP cable canât be used with this junction box of cause but it would be a bit of a waste to not take advantage of the shielding capabilities if available. The kit also comes with 3M pads and self tap screws for mounting the box to joists. Theyâre designed for indoor use but can be used in conjunction with a weatherproof box for CCTV installations. Thereâs nothing that says it is PoE compliant but I canât see why they wonât be given the low voltage transfer of this type of install. There is a very low level instruction leaflet in the packaging although Iâm sure most people ordering this sort of product wonât need such guidance.
