Viva Piñata meets Dragon Quest Builders meets Animal Crossing meets Pokémon Channel
When I was browsing upcoming Switch 2 releases back in January, there wasn’t a lot of information about this game. All I had were a few screenshots and a description that immediately made me think of one of my favourite games from the Xbox 360: Viva Piñata. The idea of playing a game that blended Viva Piñata with Pokémon appealed to me enough to keep an eye on this one. As the game’s release got closer, more and more information surfaced, including videos on the official Nintendo channels on YouTube. The new information convinced me to pre-order this game, and I’m glad I did. There’s far more to this game than Viva Piñata meets Pokémon. The influence of building and crafting games like Dragon Quest Builders (same developers) and Minecraft is strong here, as is the influence of Nintendo’s most popular social simulation series: Animal Crossing. It also reminded me of other Pokémon spinoff titles like Pokémon Channel and the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series, which feature talking Pokémon. The game’s premise is that humans have abandoned the region, and the region has become a desolate wasteland. Many Pokémon got left behind, including a Ditto that can transform into a likeness of its missing human trainer. Ditto’s task is to turn the desolate wasteland back into a place that is suitable for both Pokémon and humans. They will start by doing simple things like watering the trees and grass to attract other Pokémon, and then they’ll move on to creating buildings, growing vegetables, running errands for the other Pokémon, and uncovering the mystery of what happened to the region. The game has a core plot that can be played through at the player’s own preferred pace. As the plot progresses through fulfilling requests, the player unlocks more and more ways to alter the environment to their liking and can access new areas to explore. If you want to build your dream home in this game, you can. If you want to turn a minecart and rails into a roller coaster, you can. There are plenty of options to let your creativity run wild. It’s up to you how long you take to fulfil requests and progress the main narrative. If you want to just hang out with your Pokémon friends and do some gardening, you can. There’s never a shortage of things to do in this game. It’s easy to lose track of time while playing it. It’s full of charm and will satisfy fans of the Gen 1 Pokémon titles with its many nostalgic references to those games. Both the quality and the quantity of the gameplay here justify the price in my opinion.PROS:- Fun and varied gameplay- Many things to do- Huge map to explore- Charming and nostalgic- Cute and colourful graphics- Soothing soundtrackCONS:- Game-key card (the game is not on the cartridge and requires a full download)

Absolutely Heartwarming 10/10 â The Perfect Pick-Me-Up on Nintendo Switch 2!
I bought the Pokémon Pokopia Game Key Card for my Nintendo Switch 2, and it has honestly been one of the best things Iâve done for myself in a long time. If you are after a cozy, wholesome game that feels like a gentle escape, this is perfect.Let me start with the Game Key Card part. I actually quite like this format. You get a nice physical box with lovely artwork that looks great on the shelf next to my other Pokémon games. It also means I can resell it later if I want to. It is not a full cartridge that works straight away. You still have to insert the card and download the game, and then keep the card in the console to play. For me that is a nice balance. I get something physical to display and the option to sell it on, without any hassle. The game itself though⦠it is a straight up 10/10. You play as a Ditto who has turned into a human and arrives in this quiet, empty world that you slowly build into a lovely Pokémon paradise. It is a relaxing life-sim where you farm, craft, build cozy homes for your Pokémon friends, decorate, collect stuff, and just enjoy the slow pace of life. The gameplay feels so well balanced and addictive in the gentlest way. Every day I look forward to tending my fields, making furniture, taking cute photos with my Pokémon, and watching the little community grow. The charm level is through the roof. The animations are sweet, the music is cheerful, and the Pokémon all have their own lovely personalities. There is enough story to keep things moving, and loads of ways to customise your home and the world around you. What really makes this game special for me is how it has helped when I have been feeling low. Life has been a bit heavy lately and I have been struggling with low moods. Pokémon Pokopia has been exactly what I needed. It is not stressful battles or endless grinding. It is pure comfort. After a tough day I just switch on the Nintendo Switch 2, pop in the card, and spend an hour or two building a little house for a Pikachu or pottering in my garden with happy music in the background. It melts the stress away and leaves me feeling lighter. The limited time events are a nice extra touch, and the early purchase bonus like the cute Ditto rug was really sweet. It looks beautiful on the Switch 2 too. Whether I play docked on the TV or handheld in bed, everything feels alive and welcoming. You can even play with up to three friends if you want, but the single player mode is strong enough on its own.If you have been feeling overwhelmed or just want something gentle and uplifting instead of another intense game, please give Pokémon Pokopia a go. It reminds me why I love gaming in the first place: for the joy, the creativity, and that little bit of peace. The Game Key Card version makes it even better if you like having the box to display or the chance to resell later.I cannot recommend it enough. Solid 10/10. I will be spending a lot more time in Pokopia. ð(The box already looks really nice on my shelf!)

Probably the most novel Pokemon take in decades!
Absolutely loving this cute and cosy game (or at least the cosiest post-apocalyptic game Iâve seen)!Rebuild a world from a barren wasteland with the help of you – a ditto, your Pokemon friends and all the moves they teach you. Such a clever game!

good
Good game worth picking up, side note there is no co-op story mode multiplayer, you are locked to one island on multiplayer where player two has alot of restricted features. Best enjoyed played alone. very thoughout game. Dissapointed I had it on preorder for months for it to arrive late not even dispatched from amazon. ð

Fantastic all round game for pokemon lovers
As someone who has had every pokemon game on the switch this is honestly up there as one of the best. It’s pokemon x animal crossing x Minecraft. You’ve got story line missions to keep you focused but you can take them at your own pace and still enjoy other parts of the game in between. It’s very beginning friendly and well explained, as well as engaging for experienced gamers.

Best Pokémon game in a long while.
Best Pokémon game in a long time. Not had this much fun playing Pokémon in awhile. If you enjoy the crafting and building in games like dragon quest builders and Minecraft or the decorating and collecting in Animal crossing you may enjoy this too.My only gripe is that it’s a key card game. I absolutely hate that this is forced on us now. If they keep this up Switch 2 will be last of my Nintendo consoles since starting the OG Gameboy and having every console since. None of this is Pokopias fault though.

Excellent and Adorable
Such a cute game, so many little things that make it, Can see it going down in history and being up there with Minecraft

Couldn’t reccomend higher
The most played game of the last 5 years of my life. Its a must buy in my opinion if you like both Animal crossing/minecraft/pokemon.

A lot more fun than I expected it to be. There are many Pokémon to discover and many quests and objectives to do, and everything can be done at your own pace, so you can explore and build as you like.
